The Company

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Buyer to join a highly successful food business supplying a range of innovative branded and own label products to the major UK retailers and the foodservice industry.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you'll be responsible for managing a broad supply base where you're category buying approach delivers optimum products and solutions. This will include identifying supplier and innovation gaps in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

You’ll be building and maintaining relationships with your designated supply base, evaluating costs, quality and negotiating contracts to ensure targeted savings are met as well as ensuring the continuity of supply.

With your commercial awareness you’ll be sourcing raw materials and ingredients guaranteeing cost effectiveness and product quality. Liaising with internal teams such as NPD, Technical and Sales you’ll be working together to deliver projects on time and to cost ensuring all new business opportunities are captured.

The Person

Would suit a buyer looking for a new challenge or a junior buyer who is looking for a step up in their career. Ideally you will be a graduate as well as part or full CIPS qualified with previous buying experience within the food industry. You'll need a good understanding of how to work with an overseas supply base. You’ll be highly numerate, have a great knowledge of food ingredients and purchasing systems with the ability to think on your feet providing strategic solutions to further save on costs. You’ll be enthusiastic and self motivated with great communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
